Your questions, answered.

Plain-English answers to what families ask us most. If you don’t see yours here, a free 15-minute consultation is the fastest way to get it.

01

Getting started

Start with a free 15-minute consultation. We’ll listen to your concerns, answer initial questions, and recommend the most appropriate next step. If an evaluation is recommended, we’ll help you schedule it. If your child completed a comprehensive evaluation within the last six months, we can review it to determine whether it meets current clinical and documentation needs. Reach out to get started.
A quick, friendly conversation about what you’re noticing and what kind of support you’re looking for. We’ll ask a few initial questions and help determine the most appropriate next step, which may be an evaluation, another type of provider, monitoring, or reassurance. The consultation is not a formal evaluation or diagnosis.
You are welcome to contact us directly. A medical or developmental diagnosis is not required to schedule a consultation or speech-language evaluation. We are currently a private-pay practice, and no referral is needed for private-pay clients.
That’s completely okay. Many families reach out because something feels difficult or different, but they are not sure whether therapy is needed. A free consultation can help us determine whether an evaluation, brief screening, home strategies, or monitoring would make the most sense.
Availability varies based on location, preferred appointment time, and the type of service your child needs. After your consultation, we’ll let you know our current availability and the earliest appropriate next step.

Services & fit

We work with children from infancy through the school-age years. Children can be assessed far earlier than most families expect: we use language measures normed from 8 months of age and speech measures from around 18 months, so there is rarely a reason to wait for a birthday before finding out where your child stands. We adapt goals and supports to each developmental stage, from early language development and school readiness to social connection and self-advocacy. If your child is older, reach out anyway and we will point you to a provider who fits.
Early communication and late talkers, autism and social communication, speech sound disorders, language, thinking, and executive function, stuttering and fluency, and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). Every plan of care is personalized to what matters most to each client and their family. Reach out and we can talk through what would fit your child.
Your evaluation begins before we meet, with a review of your child’s history and what you’ve shared, so we know which questions the visit needs to answer. The appointment itself happens in person and blends play with structured tasks: a caregiver interview, observation, real play and conversation samples, and formal measures. The goal is to understand your whole child, not produce a single score. Depending on your concerns, we may look at speech sound production, understanding and using language, motor speech, fluency, social communication, or AAC. Afterward we score and analyze everything and write a comprehensive report in plain language covering what we found, what it means, and practical recommendations for home. A follow-up consultation to walk through it together is included in the evaluation fee, and therapy is not the automatic conclusion.
Your evaluation begins before we meet, with a review of your child’s history and what you have shared, so we know which questions the visit needs to answer. The session happens over video with a caregiver nearby, and you become our hands-on partner: we guide you through activities while we watch how your child communicates in their own space. We combine caregiver interview, observation, real play and conversation samples, and formal measures that can be given reliably over video. Afterward we write a comprehensive report in plain language covering what we found, what it means, and practical recommendations for home, and a follow-up consultation to walk through it together is included in the evaluation fee. Some parts of an evaluation, such as an oral mechanism examination, need to be done in person. Ask us first and we will tell you honestly which setting is the better fit for your child.
We’ll meet with you to explain the results, answer questions, and review our recommendations. If therapy is recommended, we’ll work together over the first few sessions to shape an individualized plan of care, and discuss session length, frequency, scheduling, and priorities for home.
Sessions are personalized around your child’s goals, interests, and communication style. Depending on the child, therapy may include play, conversation, movement, structured practice, AAC, or coaching within everyday routines. We also share practical ideas for supporting progress between sessions.
Right now, every session is provided by a licensed speech-language pathologist. As our team grows, sessions may also be provided by a speech-language pathology assistant or a student clinician, always under the supervision of a certified SLP. You will know who your child is working with before the first session.
That’s okay. Children do not need to sit at a table or participate in a specific way for therapy to be valuable. We use movement, play, preferred activities, and your child’s interests to build connection and work toward meaningful goals.

Sessions & scheduling

Three options: in-home in Tempe, Scottsdale, and nearby areas; on-site at preschool, childcare, and ABA centers, subject to facility approval; and telehealth statewide across Arizona. Some families use a combination of in-home and telehealth services when clinically appropriate and scheduling allows.
We offer 30-minute and 60-minute sessions. We’ll recommend the best fit based on your child’s needs, attention, and goals so therapy stays effective, engaging, and never overwhelming.
Recommendations are individualized. Many children are seen once or twice per week, while others benefit from a different schedule. Frequency is based on evaluation findings, goals, family availability, and the level of support needed, and it may change as your child progresses.
A camera-enabled device, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet space. We’ll send a secure link to join. No special equipment required.
Yes. Parents, family members, and caregivers are welcome to participate when appropriate. Carryover outside of therapy supports meaningful progress, so we regularly share practical strategies that can be used during everyday routines.
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling. The first late cancellation or missed appointment is waived as a one-time courtesy. After that, cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged 50% of the session fee, and missed appointments without notice are charged the full fee. Complete details are provided before services begin.

Costs, insurance & funding

Evaluation and therapy costs are reviewed with you before scheduling, so you know exactly what to expect. Evaluations are offered at one flat rate that includes the session, written report, and follow-up consultation. See our pricing section for current therapy rates and payment options.
Arizona ESA funding (ClassWallet), HSA and FSA funds, and all major debit and credit cards.
At this time, we are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. We can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Not yet. Our enrollment with the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities is still in progress, so we cannot bill DDD for any visits right now. All services are private pay in the meantime. We hope to begin in the coming months. Reach out and ask about DDD, and we’ll add you to the waitlist and let you know as soon as it’s available.

Progress, coordination & privacy

Progress looks different for every child. We set clear goals at the evaluation, track them and review progress regularly, so you always know what’s shifting and what we’re working on next.
Every child’s timeline is different. The length of therapy depends on your child’s goals, needs, progress, attendance, and opportunities to practice skills outside of sessions. We regularly review progress and adjust the plan as your child grows. As goals are reached, we’ll work with you to decide when it makes sense to reduce services, transition to another type of support, or celebrate graduation from therapy.
Yes, and we love to. With your written permission, we’re glad to collaborate with your child’s pediatrician, occupational and physical therapists, ABA team, behavioral health providers, dietitians, teachers, IEP teams, and childcare providers. When everyone supporting your child is working toward the same goals, progress carries over from our sessions into the classroom, the dinner table, and everywhere in between.
We take your family’s privacy seriously. Scheduling, clinical documentation, reports, forms, and secure messaging are handled through SimplePractice, an encrypted healthcare platform. We follow HIPAA privacy and security requirements and only share information with authorized individuals or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

Approach & philosophy

We believe different brains and communication styles belong. Our goal is not to make a child appear more typical. Instead, we support communication, autonomy, regulation, participation, and self-advocacy in ways that respect who your child already is.
No. Our goal is not to make your child look, sound, or act more typical. We help children communicate in ways that work for them, advocate for themselves, participate more fully in daily life, and feel understood, while respecting their individual identity and communication style.

Therapeutic play uses activities your child enjoys to work toward specific communication goals. Although it may look like ordinary play, the therapist carefully selects targets and materials, creates meaningful practice opportunities, and adjusts the level of support based on your child’s needs.

For example, if your child loves toy cars and is practicing a speech sound, the therapist may intentionally use words such as “car,” “key,” “crash,” or “cone.” Because the activity is engaging and connected to familiar play, your child is more likely to learn the skill and use it in everyday routines.

We believe communication begins with connection. Connection isn’t just the first step. It’s the foundation for confident, meaningful communication and lasting growth.

Families are never just another name on our schedule. We stay closely connected, celebrate progress, listen to recent challenges, and use what families share to guide each session.

Every visit begins with a check-in so we can meet your child where they are that day. Activities and support are adjusted based on their interests, energy, regulation, and needs. When a child feels hesitant or overwhelmed, connection comes first because children learn best when they feel safe, understood, and ready to engage.
